* A milestone, all thanks to Bin Laden’s death perhaps that Google has “pre-announced” satellite imagery update for first time ever. This imagery update as expected includes the updated imagery for Abbottabad town of Pakistan that has gained attentions in recent days. This latest imagery update of Abbottabad, Pakistan is courtesy of GeoEye who released the satellite imagery captured on 2nd May 2011 as announced at our facebook and twitter pages.

This imagery will be pushed live in Google Earth and Maps as part of our next periodic imagery update as part of historic imagery update. As for now, this imagery is live in Google Earth and Google crisis response has released a KML file preview with this new satellite imagery which can also be seen in Google Earth. This imagery will be updated to other Google mapping products soon.
